Petra is a breathtaking ancient city located in modern-day Jordan, rising 900 meters above sea level and hidden deep within a narrow canyon known as the Siq. Without exaggeration, it is one of the most remarkable creations of human civilization, perfectly blended with dramatic natural landscapes.
The entire city was carved directly into rose-red rock, creating temples, tombs, and monuments that remained unknown to the world for centuries. Until just over 200 years ago, Petra was accessible only to local Bedouins and mentioned merely in the writings of a few scholars. Today, it is officially recognized as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and attracts millions of visitors from around the globe.
As you walk through the winding Siq canyon, shaped by wind, sand, and time, the scenery changes with every step. Towering rock walls, natural color gradients, and unique geological formations create a truly unforgettable atmosphere. The first view of the famous Treasury (Al-Khazneh) is a moment that stays with travelers for a lifetime.
This day tour from Sharm El Sheikh gives you the rare opportunity to visit one of the world’s most extraordinary archaeological sites in just one trip. Guided by a professional expert, you will learn the fascinating history of the Nabataean civilization while exploring a UNESCO World Heritage Site that simply must be seen to be believed.

From Taba, you will board a ferry to the Jordanian port city of Aqaba, where border and passport control procedures will take place.

During the ferry ride, you will sail across the Gulf of Aqaba, a unique location where four countries meet:
Jordan (Aqaba), Israel (Eilat), Saudi Arabia, and Egypt.
Approximate arrival at the Port of Aqaba is around 08:30 in the morning.
At the port of Aqaba, you will be met by a guide from the local Jordanian partner company. Together, you will continue by bus toward Petra, passing through the spectacular desert landscapes of Wadi Rum on the way.
After arrival in Aqaba, you will continue by bus to the town of Wadi Musa, the gateway to Petra.
The transfer takes approximately 3 hours, including a short stop at a souvenir shop along the way.
The main part of the excursion begins upon arrival at the Siq Canyon, the dramatic natural entrance to Petra.
You will walk along a winding path of approximately 1,200 meters, surrounded by towering rock walls shaped by nature over millions of years. The canyon is famous for its striking red and rose-colored sandstone, which changes shades with the light.
At the end of the canyon, just around one final bend, an unforgettable moment awaits — the sudden and breathtaking view of Al-Khazneh, carved directly into the rock.
Al-Khazneh, meaning “The Treasury” in Arabic, is a Nabataean monument dating back to the Hellenistic period. According to legend, the structure was created by an Egyptian pharaoh pursuing Moses, who used magic to hide his treasures inside the large urn at the top of the façade. Even today, marks left by Bedouin gunfire can be seen, from attempts to break the urn in search of gold.
In reality, the urn — like the entire façade — is carved from solid sandstone. Many historians believe the monument was built as a royal tomb for the Nabataean king Aretas IV Philopatris.
The façade stands approximately 40 meters high and 25 meters wide. At the entrance, statues of the mythological twins Castor and Pollux can still be identified, although many decorative elements have been lost over time. According to local belief, the eagle figures once carved near the top symbolized the soul’s journey to the afterlife.
Optional camel, horse, or donkey rides are available near this area for an additional fee. Please note that tips for the Bedouin handlers (approx. USD 2–3) are customary.
Beyond the Treasury, you will explore more of Petra’s remarkable remains, including:
An ancient amphitheater with seating for up to 8,000 spectators
Roman colonnaded streets
A Byzantine church
The Roman theater
Royal tombs, monuments, and obelisks
Petra is also famous as a filming location for the movie Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, one of the highest-grossing films of its time, earning nearly USD 495 million worldwide. Fans of the movie will instantly recognize the Treasury façade and enjoy standing in the exact spot where iconic scenes were filmed — connecting not only with ancient history, but also with modern cinema.
You will have free time for photography and personal exploration.
Those who wish may take a hike up Mount Al-Habis to the Crusader-era fortress, from where you can enjoy beautiful panoramic views over Petra and the surrounding landscape.
At approximately 15:00, lunch will be served at the caffee.
The standard lunch menu includes:
Grilled chicken
Rice
Bread
Fresh salads and sauces
After lunch, at around 17:00, we will return to Aqaba, where you will enjoy a short city sightseeing tour and have time for shopping.
At approximately 18:00, you will board the ferry from the Port of Aqaba for the return crossing to Taba, Egypt.
Arrival back at your hotel in Sharm El Sheikh is expected at approximately 01:00–01:30 at night, depending on ferry schedules, border procedures, and road conditions.
Dear guests, we kindly ask you to check the weather forecast before the trip and dress appropriately, as Petra involves outdoor walking and changing weather conditions.
Transportation to the border city of Taba is provided by a large tourist bus or a minibus in the case of a smaller group.
After crossing into Jordan, guests will continue the tour on a separate bus provided by the local Jordanian partner, the official operator of group tours in the country.
