Cairo & Alexandria 2-Day Trip from Sharm El Sheikh

The 2-day Cairo and Alexandria tour is a truly unique experience, allowing you to visit two of Egypt’s most important historical capitals. While Cairo is the modern capital of Egypt, Alexandria held this role centuries ago, making this journey a fascinating exploration through time.

In Cairo, you will discover world-famous landmarks, including the Pyramids of Giza—one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World—the Great Sphinx, and the renowned Egyptian Museum, home to the largest collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts. You will also have the opportunity to experience the Nile, the longest river in the world, which flows through the Sahara Desert and has been the lifeline of Egypt for thousands of years.

In Alexandria, a city stretching along the Mediterranean coast, you will explore its rich Greco-Roman heritage. Visit the famous Library of Alexandria, discover ancient sites, and enjoy the unique coastal atmosphere of this historic city, once home to the legendary Lighthouse of Pharos—another Wonder of the Ancient World.

The atmosphere of Cairo and Alexandria cannot be fully described in words—it must be experienced. And you have the perfect opportunity to do so with us.

Arrival in Cairo is expected around 08:00–08:30 AM, after which the экскурсионная программа begins.

- Egyptian Museum (Tahrir Square)

The first stop in Cairo is the world-famous Egyptian Museum, located in the heart of the city at historic Tahrir Square.

This iconic museum houses one of the most important collections of ancient artifacts in the world, spanning thousands of years of Egyptian civilization. Inside its grand halls, you will discover:

  • Monumental statues of powerful pharaohs

  • Remarkably preserved mummies

  • Ancient sarcophagi and papyri

  • Jewelry, treasures, and priceless historical relics

Accompanied by a professional Egyptologist guide, you will gain insight into the daily life, beliefs, burial rituals, and dynasties of Ancient Egypt.

This visit provides essential historical context before exploring the Giza Pyramids later in the program and is considered a cornerstone of any comprehensive Cairo tour.

- Optional Nile River Cruise

During the second stop, guests may choose to enjoy a relaxing boat ride along the legendary Nile aboard a traditional felucca.

  • Duration: up to 45 minutes

  • Price: approximately 10–20 USD per person (paid on site)

  • Experience: peaceful sailing with scenic Nile views away from the city noise

Guests who prefer not to join the cruise may remain on the bus or nearby, in accordance with Cairo tourist police regulations.

- Lunch & Cultural Shopping Stops

After the Nile stop, the group will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.

  • Traditional Egyptian bread and sauces

Drinks are not included and are charged separately.

Following lunch, the group will visit:

  • A perfume and essential oils factory featuring natural aromatic oils and locally made souvenirs.

The total duration of the shopping stops is approximately 40 minutes.

- Giza Pyramids Plateau & The Great Sphinx

The highlight and grand finale of the first day is a visit to the legendary Giza Pyramids — home to Egypt’s most iconic monuments and one of the most extraordinary archaeological sites in the world.

The Giza Necropolis includes:

  • The Great Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops) — originally standing at approximately 140 meters high and over 4,500 years old, it remains the only surviving Wonder of the Ancient World.

  • The Pyramid of Khafre — slightly smaller but appearing taller due to its elevated foundation and the remaining limestone casing near its summit.

  • The Pyramid of Menkaure — the smallest and southernmost of the three main pyramids.

In addition to the principal pyramids, you will also see:

  • The Queens’ Pyramids

  • Valley temples and mortuary complexes

  • Smaller subsidiary (satellite) pyramids

Originally, the pyramids were covered in polished white limestone that reflected sunlight brilliantly, making them shine across the desert. Over the centuries, much of this outer casing was removed and reused in later construction projects throughout Cairo.

- The Great Sphinx of Giza

The tour continues with a visit to the legendary Great Sphinx of Giza, the oldest surviving monumental sculpture in the world.

  • Length: 73 meters

  • Height: 20 meters

  • Material: carved from a single block of limestone bedrock

The Sphinx features the body of a lion and the head of a human, widely believed to represent Pharaoh Khafre. A small sanctuary once stood between its massive paws.

The missing nose of the Sphinx has inspired many legends. While some stories attribute the damage to Napoleon’s soldiers, no historical evidence supports this claim.

This unforgettable visit offers breathtaking panoramic views and excellent photo opportunities, allowing you to fully appreciate the scale and mystery of Ancient Egypt.

  • Entry inside the Great Pyramid of Khufu is optional and not included in the tour price.

  • Ticket price: approximately 30 USD (around 1500 EGP), payable on site.
